Mythos
a body of work created as a ritual act in reverence to the Olympian deities. Deeply rooted and inspired by the legends about gods, goddesses, heroes, and monsters, these wood engraving explore the role of the worshiper versus the object of worship challenging the balance of power between mortality and immortality.
Through repetitive and obsessive mark making, each piece acts as a holy temple of worship in which each deity is venerated. With each meticulous stroke of the blade against the surface of the wood, these omnipotent creatures come to life beneath the arduous and fanatical labor of its devotee.
In Mythos, the power thus then shifts from the deity to its creation. Each work then stands as proof that these fearsome immortal beings remain deathless and undying at the whim of its mortal creation whose faithfulness carry it across centuries.
